Evos Hamburg secures Hohe Schaar land expansion for sustainable energy projects

Evos Hamburg has reached a major milestone with the formal start of the lease for the 4.6‑hectare Hohe Schaar site – one of the last strategically significant development plots in the Port of Hamburg. The agreement strengthens Evos’ long‑term commitment to sustainable growth and supports Germany’s transition to a new energy landscape.

Located directly next to the existing Evos Hamburg terminal, Hohe Schaar offers immediate access to key port infrastructure. The site is widely regarded as one of the port’s final premium areas available for large‑scale growth projects. By awarding the lease, the Hamburg Port Authority underlines the importance of aligning new developments with the Port Development Plan 2040, which prioritises sustainable energy and future‑proof infrastructure.

A Key Role in Evos Growth Plans

Daan Vos, Evos CEO, said:

“Hohe Schaar has long been identified within the Evos business development strategy as a cornerstone for renewable and low‑carbon products projects. Our planned concepts include, among others, infrastructure for hydrogen, ammonia, CO₂ and methanol as transition fuels to cleaner energy systems”.

Next‑Generation Energy Infrastructure

Michael Luebke, Managing Director of Evos Hamburg, commented:

“Developing Hohe Schaar is a generational opportunity. It allows us to shape infrastructure that supports Germany’s energy transition while strengthening Hamburg’s role as a strategic energy hub for Europe.”

With Hohe Schaar, Evos Hamburg gains critical space to build, innovate and collaborate, delivering lower‑carbon logistics and infrastructure fit for the decades ahead.
